Dear Colleague,
Wouldn’t it be great if we could get together and celebrate our Salesian connection? I can’t tell you how many times I heard that phrase mentioned when spending time with one of the past teachers of Salesian High School. Well, let’s give it a shot and plan a reunion of all past and present Salesian High School educators. Most of us got our start in this noble profession at this outstanding school. There are varied reasons why we moved on to other undertakings. In most cases there has always been a place in our hearts for the young men that we taught at Salesian as well as for Salesian educational philosophy of Reason, Religion, Loving Kindness and Active Presence that helped to frame the foundation of our educational careers.
This year I am very excited to begin my new role as Director of Alumni Relations. I think often of all my colleagues that have helped to nurture me through the years. I have always felt that the charisma of the school comes from the students and that the heart of the school comes from the educators. Here, at Salesian, we have always been challenged to teach with the “heart of Don Bosco”. With that in mind I would like to invite all of you former teachers to come back and reminisce with each other about the good old days at Salesian. We are now beginning the process of writing our centennial anniversary book and it would be great to have your memories included. So, let’s have a party, a FACULTY REUNION to relive the past and prepare for the future.
The date of our REUNION will be Sunday, March 12th. We will gather in the Student Lobby at 2:00pm and begin our event with Sunday Mass in the chapel. After Mass there will be a tour of the school and facilities and we will then make our way to the cafeteria where lunch and libations will be served.
This will give us a great opportunity to get reacquainted with each other, meet some of the pioneers of our school as well as help lay the foundation for the next 100 years. We all say that we are not getting any younger but this will give us the opportunity to relive some of those younger days. It will be fun and I hope you can make it.
If you can, please register by clicking here. There you will be able to pre-register so that we can keep a running account of who will be able to come. There will be no charge for this event! Call your Salesian friends and make sure they are coming too.
Until then, if there is anything I can do for you; please do not hesitate to give me a call (914) 632-1147. Thank you and looking forward to seeing you soon!
In Don Bosco,
John P. Flaherty
Director of Alumni Relations
